5th Annual BYRDS Junior Stage Race Volunteers

This is really a cool event. I worked all the stages last year and
meet some awesome people. If you have some spare time, please support
this event.

Hello all,
ItR17;s an exciting time of year again as young cyclist get ready for
the 5th annual BYRDS all Junior Stage Race. This years race will
feature challenging new courses for all riders ages 10-18 and an
expanded schedule for juniors age 15-18. We will have age categories
for both junior men and junior women
In order to make this event as successful as possible, we are
soliciting help from the local community. As with most sporting
events within our community, the success of each event is greatly
enhanced by the dedicated support of volunteers who kindly donate
their time. The organizers of this years race would greatly
appreciate you taking a moment to review the dates and times below.
If you have some time available please consider volunteering to help
make this event as memorable as possible for the young aspiring
cyclist in our community. Not only will you be helping to make this
years race better, but you will also get to watch some awesome youths
compete.
Below is a list of times and volunteer needs for the event. Please
contact me using the information below if you are interested in
helping promote the sport of cycling for our youth.
Thursday July 24th, Prologue
Time: Start: 6:30pm
End: 9pm
Location: The Idaho Velodrome and Cycling
Park
Needs: 16 volunteers
Functions: Traffic control and turn around
control.
Friday July 25th, Road Race
Time: Start: 8:30am
End: After Sag wagon rolls by
Location: Eagle Idaho, Start-Eagle City
Hall, Finish-Old Freeze Out Hill
Needs: ~15 volunteers
Functions: Corner Marshalls, traffic control,
Coarse direction.
Saturday July 26th, Circuit Race
Time: Start: 9:00am
End: 1:30pm (approximate)
Location: Boise Idaho, Air Guard of Gowen Rd
Needs: 40 volunteers
Functions: Corner Marshall, traffic control.
Saturday July 26th, Time Trial
Time: Start: 6:30pm
End: 9pm (approximate)
Location: Boise Idaho, Lower Bogus Basin Road
Needs: 12 volunteers
Functions: Traffic control at driveways, start
and finish
Sunday July 27th, Criterium
Time: Start: 8:30am
End: ~2:30pm (approximate)
Location: Eagle Idaho, TBD
Needs: 24 volunteers
Functions: Corner Marshalls, traffic control.

The Boise Young Rider Development Squad (BYRDS) is a Treasure Valley
bicycling program designed to introduce youth (ages 8 to 18) to the
sport of cycling. The goal of this program is to provide interested
junior boys and girls the training, and the understanding of
equipment, rules and safety as well as the benefits of cycling as a
lifelong sport.
BYRDS Cycling welcomes new riders and families to the club. We
currently have 100 young members who participate in weekly road and /
or mountain bike rides, events and races. Weekly training rides start
in February, run throughout the summer and into October. Come join
our team and ride with us.... No one sits on the bench...
