Stepping it up

Looks like the guys in Rexburg are stepping it up. Sweet! Cross racing all over the place

Series and Race overlap

The new promoters in the state might need to get together with the current promoters to avoid the overlap we are seeing with these new series. The Toys for Tots cyclocross race in Boise is a significant charity event so hard for us in the Boise area to go east given that the Nov. 1st Sandy Point Race is very important to the Treasure Valley.

Hey JW,
Yeah it would be great to coordinate race dates early for next season. Really though this is a good problem to have. Cyclocross in Idaho is growing! We are developing a good local scene here in far Eastern Idaho/Jackson WY. One thing to keep in mind is that we have a huge state. Being from Victor at this point it is not realistic for us to travel to Boise but maybe once a season. So I don't see a problem having conflicts for smaller local focused series - after all it is a short season and there are only so many weekends. It would be great to start a promoter email list. Maybe we can all identify 3 or 4 larger races that we all collectively promote and try not to schedule any over lap. Good luck with Toys for Tots. It seems like a great event. Take care.

Re: Agree

Thanks for comment. I think we will all get it worked out, the most important part is the love for the sport, but also giving back to the community. Hopefully we can get this sport to the point of a statewide series as well as local/regional series... I know I might be dreaming but its worth a shot. Knobby Tires and mountain biking has tried it and so far it has worked! Of course, last spring/summer the snow didn't cooperate :) Just to propose an idea and it will take a little planning, but we can identify the "important" local races as well as the state championships and maybe grow it into a series if racers are interested.

Course information just in

The Cube now has course information up on the website. Each week the course is going to be different. Though some of the races conflict with other events, we're hoping to see riders come out for at least one of the races. Long live Cyclocross!

The Above information is incorrect

This is actually information from last year's event. Registration fees and categories are different this year. To get updated info, check out thecubecyclocross.blogspot.com

Who else is racing in Rexburg this Sat?

Cycling Junkie's picture

I know many of you are racing at the ST Champs, but how many Eastern ID folks are staying local and racing in Rexburg? There is a crew of us from Victor who will be there.

It is great to have more racing options close by.

Pocatello and Rexburg races

Jake Turner and myself are seriously considering going to Rexburg then onto Pocatello for the Sunday race. Jake is driving down and then leaving after Sunday race while I am planning on going down with him in his car but would need a ride back after Sunday's race. Any offers? Anyone have room? Will help on gas/food.

Charles Stearns

Point of Clarification

Charles is referring to the races on the weekend of Nov 8th and 9th. Rexburg on Sat and then Pocatello on Sunday, since there are no races in the western part of the state that weekend.

Good plan

The weekend of Nov 8th & 9th will be a fun weekend of racing for sure. Props to Sam Krieg for holding his race on Sunday so we can a full weekend of racing.

Pocatello CYCLOCROSS "KING/QUEEN CROSS"

samkrieg's picture

WE decided to RUN the "KING and Queen of CROSS" on sunday NOV 9th! because we didn't wan't to conflict with other races. The course here in POKI... is hard.... classic cross.... I don't know much about rexburg or who is putting it on... BUT it should make for a great double weekend!

I am working on a great course here in pocatello....IT will be WIDE. Plenty of room to pass. It is not a mountain bike course...
To win on the grass with take a fit rider...but I promise the course will be technical enough for those that like to RIP turns...WE have a killer run-up.....ONE that will make everyone wish you ran a few more hills this season. Also the course will be almost 10 minutes per lap... SO most racers will only turn 4-5 laps. Only one set of barriers.... and the HILL of TRUTH(UCI LIMIT).... But smooth and just hard enough... Recovery section after the run...We might even put a lemonade stand on the top!

I hope the racers from BOISE can make the trip. We hope the winners will be the best racers in there category from the MOUNTAIN States....
www.pocatellocyclocross.blogspot.com for more info.... see you guys in sun valley tomorrow...

Poki Race

Brad.S's picture

I am going to add this to the calendar via another thread to help keep things straight.

I am going to try to do this

If I can get my schedule figured out, I am up for doing both those races. It is the least I can do for Sam for sitting up so as not to lap me at the beer tent on Saturday on his finishing lap. I obviously needed that one extra lap for good measure :)

CUBE Race #1 was great

Cycling Junkie's picture

The course was really fun and the organizers did a great job. Well marked course, plenty of signage to get you to the right spot, and the Nature Park in Rexburg is an awesome cross venue. I am definitely going back this weekend and am looking forward to seeing what they come up with for a course change. Each week will be slightly different.

I hope to see some new faces there too.
