Fundraiser for Jason Werst

There will be a collection box at the Sandy Point races, but if anyone has idea on how to help raise more money for Jason that would be great!

>A Special Note to Idaho Cyclists Regarding

>Jason
>Werst,
>Cyclist, Friend, Fine Fellow, Great Athlete and now person in need

>Many of you know Jason from his time racing in the Colors of the
>former IMT/Title One Team and this year in the Orange of
>Intermountain Orthopaedics/LRCC. Jason is a former All-American
>track Athlete from Eastern Oregon University.

>From The Family of Jason and Jessica Werst
>Lorraine & Ava Taylor, Troy Tillman and Etta Weatherup

>Dear Friends,

>On January 18, 2007 Jason was diagnosed with AML
>(acute Myelogenous Leukemia). This was two months after his and
>Jessica's November 11, 2006 wedding while they were settling into
>their new home located in Nampa, Idaho, eagerly anticipating their
>future as newlyweds.

>He successfully underwent chemotherapy and by July 2007 was in remission.

>Now the Leukemia has returned and Jason is scheduled to undergo a
>stem cell transplant on October 14, 2008. The day before, on
>October 13, 2008 he will be inducted into
>The Eastern Oregon University Athletic Hall of Fame.

>He and Jessica will be in Seattle where he is to report to on
>September 4, 2o08 for the preliminary tests, procedures, and
>treatments necessary for the transplant to take place in October.

>The past two years have been incredibly challenging for the Wersts',
>emotionally, physically and financially. The prayers, support and
>encouragement of friends and family have been greatly appreciated by
>Jason and Jessica. We now have another way to support them. Besides
>the risks associated with the stem cell transplant procedure, it is
>costly and insurance will not cover all their expenses. The nearest
>estimate of uninsured expenses will be in excess of $30,000.

>Any donation will help. Your donation of $500.00 would pay for two
>weeks of rent on their apartment in Seattle. A donation of $100.00
>would buy them a couple weeks of food. A donation of $50.00 would
>pay for a couple weeks of gas. Any donation would be most
>appreciated. These kids will be living in Seattle for almost six
>months. They will be living only on Jason's disability and having
>to pay for all their bill and house payment here in Nampa plus their
>apartment and expenses in Seattle.

>As friends of Jessica and Jason, their family, friends, and
>associates, we know you will continue to offer your prayers and
>encouragement during this difficult time. However, we can also help
>them financially. A fundraising campaign has been established with
>the National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF) for contributions to
>help offset their financial burden of uninsured medical costs. NTAF
>is a nonprofit organization that has been helping the transplant
>community for over twenty years.

>If you are able to make a tax-deductible contribution:

>Make checks payable to: NTAF North-West Bone Marrow Transplant Fund
>Note in the Memo Section: In Honor of Jason Werst
